Another adventurous and exciting activity designed to do as a family or a group is our Guided Hayrides. Our Hayride Trailers carry you on a nostalgic ride through the picturesque Cades Cove Loop Road surrounded by the preserved 19th and early 20th century farming community. You will ride in a hay-filled trailer and tour some of the most scenic areas in the park. Cool mountain breezes and towering forests surround you as you roll along to the peaceful sounds of the birds, with miles of serene vistas in all directions. Often seen on these fully narrated adventures is the wildlife which inhabits Cades Cove such as white-tailed deer, black bears, raccoons, turkeys, woodchucks, and other animals. This adventure option offers some of the best guided opportunities for wildlife viewing in the park.
Our knowledgeable guides will entertain you with stories of the early settlers of the area and how they made a living from the land while creating a community. Learn about farming, home life, religion, and recreation. During special occasions, we offer Ranger-Led Hayrides as scheduled by the Park Service.
These rides take a trip back in time where you can enjoy and experience a 1½ to 3 hour leisurely ride through mountainous forest and fields of Cades Cove. This trip is extraordinary and an unforgettable experience which will create family memories which will last a lifetime. Don't forget your camera!
